TEPEAR recycling plant at Grandpuits
11 September 2026, Paris, France – Plastic Energy, a global leader in chemical recycling, today confirmed it has transferred its stake in the TotalEnergies Plastic Energy Advanced Recycling (TEPEAR) plant to TotalEnergies. The move is the first concrete step in the strategic restructuring of Plastic Energy’s asset base, following founder Carlos Monreal’s return as Chief Executive Officer.
The Plant, located in TotalEnergies’ zero-crude Grandpuits complex outside Paris, became operational in March 2026 and is capable of recycling 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually. It will continue to operate at industrial scale under the full ownership of TotalEnergies, using Plastic Energy’s proprietary TAC™ technology under a continuing licence and technology agreement.
Plastic Energy will continue to own and operate its recycling plants in Almeria and Seville in Spain, alongside its joint venture plant, SABIC Plastic Energy Advanced Recycling (SPEAR), in the Netherlands.
Plastic Energy’s TAC™ recycling technology converts hard-to-recycle plastic waste into a circular alternative to traditional fossil-based feedstocks, to help deliver on its circular polymer goals.
