Ian Temperton

Interim Chief Executive Officer

Ian is Plastic Energy’s interim Chief Executive Officer and previously served as the company’s EVP of Sales and Corporate Development and Chief Investment Officer. He has over 25 years’ experience in the energy sector, focussing on clean energy financing. Ian was a Managing Director at the investment and advisory firm Climate Change Capital for 11 years, and sits on the Advisory Board of the UK Energy Research Centre. He holds a Master of Arts and Master of Engineering from Cambridge University, and M.Sc. in finance from London Business School. He is a former Visiting Business Fellow at the Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford University.

David McNamara

EVP Chief Technology Officer

For over a decade David has led the development of Plastic Energy’s ground-breaking technology and is the company’s EVP Chief Technology Officer. His responsibilities range from creating and executing the company’s technology roadmap, to structuring multiple high-profile strategic partnerships across the world. David has written a series of patents, granted internationally, for the organisation. He has worked in a broad variety of senior leadership roles for over 20 years, across telecommunications, construction, waste, and recycling. David has a joint honours degree in Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry with Technology from Loughborough University.

Ying Staton

Chief Sustainability Officer / VP, Asia

Ying is Plastic Energy’s Chief Sustainability Officer, based in Singapore, where she also leads the company’s commercial activities and business development in Asia. She previously worked across British government departments, including leading research at 10 Downing Street for former Prime Minister David Cameron. Before joining Plastic Energy she was Head of Asia at the strategic advisory firm, Global Counsel. Ying graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and English from Oxford University and a Master of Arts in East Asian Studies from Yale University, where she was a Henry Fellow. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and a CFA charterholder.

Jean-Christophe Lesguillier

EVP Projects and Operations

JC joined Plastic Energy in 2022 and leads the company’s projects and operations. He has over 25 years’ experience in the petrochemicals industry with ExxonMobil, where he held senior managerial positions in manufacturing, sales, and marketing, as well as projects and business developments across all regions. His career to date has involved leadership roles managing plant operations, plus business and industrial project developments. JC holds a chemical engineering degree from the Lyon Chemical Engineering School in France and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in Canada.

Greg Joynson

General Counsel

Greg is Plastic Energy’s General Counsel. He has 20 years of experience working in law firms, both international and domestic. Greg has extensive experience advising businesses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt funding, intellectual property, commercial agreements, compliance and corporate governance. He holds a law degree from the University of Manchester and attended Nottingham Law School. Greg is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Rajesh Kumar

Finance Director

Rajesh, Plastic Energy’s Finance Director, is a Chartered Accountant with nearly two decades of experience across the audit, oil and gas and utilities sectors. He leads the company’s finance team, after previously holding senior finance positions with Interconnector (UK) Limited and Bristol Water plc. Before moving in-house, Rajesh spent eight years between KPMG and EY, performing audits and due diligences across the energy, oil, gas, retail and telecommunication sectors. He has also worked on business transformation initiatives around corporate and financial restructures, end-to-end business process redesign, system implementation, and business cost rationalisation.

Alessia Alberoni

Vice President Sales & Corporate Development EME&A and Americas

Alessia is Plastic Energy's Vice President of Sales and Corporate Development for the Western Hemisphere, driving the company’s strategic growth and partnerships. She has over 20 years of experience in the petrochemicals industry, spanning strategy, business development, sales and marketing, advocacy, and sustainability. Alessia has held senior roles at BP and INEOS and served on the Board of Directors of BP Aromatics and INEOS Aromatics. She spearheaded sustainability initiatives at BP, including the launch of BP PTAir, the industry's first carbon-neutral polyester precursor, and BP's ground-breaking chemical recycling technology for PET, Infinia. Alessia also played a pivotal role in developing BP's Downstream Plastic Strategy.

Adela Putinelu

Head of Policy and Sustainability

Adela leads Plastic Energy’s policy and sustainability work. She focuses on assessing the impacts arising from regional and global regulatory frameworks on chemical recycling, decarbonisation, and the circular economy. She also drives industry-wide cooperation as Policy Lead for the Brussels-based association of technology providers, Chemical Recycling Europe. Adela previously worked for the British Plastics Federation as Senior Sustainability Executive, and for environmental organisations in London and Brussels, advising on climate policy. Adela has a Master of Science in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.

Megan Hunt

Interim Head of Communications

Megan is Plastic Energy’s interim Head of Communications, leading the organisation’s events, PR, social, internal communications, and web functions. She previously managed the global press office for the climate consultancy, the Carbon Trust. Before moving into the sustainability sector, she worked as a journalist in New Zealand and held a range of communication roles across the legal and charity sectors. Megan holds a Bachelor of Communications and Master of Journalism from Massey University in New Zealand.

Carlos Monreal

Founder & Chairman

Carlos is the Founder of Plastic Energy and Chairman of the company’s Board. He has been a serial entrepreneur for over 35 years, focusing on developing disruptive technologies and innovative solutions in the sustainability sector. Carlos is the president of Green Dot Global, a recycling and sustainable packaging company, and the CEO of Greenland Capital, a company which identifies and develops new technologies for waste, water and alternative energy management. Carlos has a Bachelor of Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Degree in Business Administration from the University of Navarra.

Dr. Karl Altenburg

Vice Chairman

Karl worked more than 25 years in Investment Banking. Until June 2016 he was Co-Head Corporate Finance Europe, Middle East & Africa at Deutsche Bank in London and a member of its Corporate Banking & Securities Executive Committee. Prior to that Karl worked over a period of 20 years for JPMorgan, in New York and London in various roles in Capital Markets and Corporate Finance and from 2005 to 2014 in Frankfurt as CEO for Germany, Austria & Switzerland. In 2000 he co-founded Inquam Ltd, a specialist provider of professional mobile telecommunication services, for which he served as CFO until 2004. Karl serves as a Senior Advisor to Citigroup and member of its EMEA Advisory Board. He holds a degree in engineering from RWTH Aachen and a doctorate in technical science from the University of Technology in Vienna.

Ralf Huep

Member of the Board

From 1991 to 2019, Ralf has been with Advent International, a world leading private equity firm. Throughout the years he led over 35 investments. His function as Managing Partner included multiple investment committees and for 7 years he was Co-Head of the Executive Committee at Advent International. Prior to joining Advent, Ralf was a Financial Analyst at Veba AG, a German industrial and energy conglomerate and a Project Manager in the Mergers and Acquisitions department of Continental AG, a leading European tyre manufacturer. Ralf has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Bielefeld. Most recently he has been building a portfolio of private companies among which is also a shareholder in PLASTIC ENERGY.

Alan Eisner

Member of the Board

Alan Eisner has been a Board Member at Plastic Energy since 2019. Alan Eisner is currently Deputy Chairman of Millennium Global, where he first joined in 2000 as a Senior Managing Director. He initially co-managed the currency investment team before becoming Chief Risk Officer (2011 to 2014) and was a member of the firm’s management committee. Before joining Millennium Global, Alan was Chief Investment Officer of Trinity Asset Management where he managed Trinity’s Emerging Currency Fund and prior to that a vice president at Salomon Brothers International Limited. At Salomon he worked on the foreign exchange sales and trading desks in New York, London and Singapore. Alan is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of MillTechFX. Alan served as Maggie’s Chairman between 2018 and 2021. He was awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for services to Charitable Fundraising in the 2023 New Year Honours. Alan holds an MA in Economic History from the University of Edinburgh.

Tim Summers

Member of the Board

Tim Summers is the Managing Partner of L1 New Energy. Prior to joining LetterOne, Tim has over 30 years of experience including multiple Chair, Board and Executive roles in manufacturing, engineering services and the energy sector in a variety of public and privately-owned businesses. He has lived and worked in South America, the Middle East and Russia, as well as in continental Europe. Tim is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester.

David Megan

Member of the Board

David Megan, a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, has over 35 years experience in general and financial management, mainly gained in the Technology Industry. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors for Plastic Energy Group (Waste Plastic to Plastic Technology), Transpoco (Vehicle Telematics) and Uleska (Software Security). He previously worked in Telecom Software companies such as Accuris, Aldiscon, Apion and Aepona which were successfully grown and sold. Previous roles included financial management positions in Murray Telecommunications Group Limited and The OHM Group.
